First time to a chiropractor? Not sure what to expect? Here is what your first visit to Swan City Chiropractic will look like:

1

Gather Medical History

It is important for us to get some background on who you are and what your health experience has been.

2

Discuss Your Health Complaint

What happened? How did it happen? Where are you feeling your pain? These are some questions we will ask you as part of our process to narrow down what might be causing your pain and discern the best way to treat you.

3

Perform Physical Exam

Dr. Bretz will take your vitals, check to see how you are moving, and then take you to a series of movements that will help him deduce what is generating your pain.

4

Review Findings

Dr. Bretz will discuss with you what he believes is causing your pain and how he can help. If chiropractic care is appropriate, he will discuss with you what he plans to adjust and any additional therapies that would be beneficial to your recovery.

5

Receive Treatment

With your permission, Dr. Bretz will adjust the regions of your body that are painful and/or restricted.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Chiropractic care is generally considered safe when performed by licensed and trained professionals. Serious complications are rare, but like any healthcare intervention, there may be some risks involved. Chiropractors undergo extensive education and training to ensure safe and effective care.

  • Chiropractic adjustments are generally not painful, but you may feel some mild discomfort or temporary soreness following the treatment, similar to the feeling after exercising. The chiropractor will communicate with you throughout the session and adjust their techniques based on your comfort level.

  • The duration of treatment and the time it takes to see results can vary depending on the individual and their condition. Some people may experience immediate relief, while others may require multiple visits over a period of weeks or months to achieve optimal results.

  • Chiropractic care should not be seen as a substitute for medical treatment. While chiropractors can assist with certain musculoskeletal conditions, they are not medical doctors and do not prescribe medication or perform surgeries. It is important to have open communication between your chiropractor and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.

  • Chiropractic care is generally safe and suitable for many people, including adults, children, and pregnant women. However, certain conditions, such as severe osteoporosis, spinal fractures, or certain neurological disorders, may require modifications or alternative treatment approaches. Consultation with a chiropractor can help determine if chiropractic care is appropriate for your specific situation.
